About TIAM

The National Law School Trilegal International Arbitration Moot is a pioneering initiative on the part of NLSIU to increase student engagement with international arbitration law and practice. As India’s only arbitration moot, it provides students with a unique opportunity to gain a working understanding of arbitration through a simulated version of arbitral proceedings.

The Moot has steadily garnered a reputation as one which deals with the most cutting- edge issues in contemporary arbitration law and has attracted participation from India and abroad. At NLSTIAM, we have always strived to provide the participants with a truly enriching experience. To this effect, we have invited several renowned practitioners, arbitrators, academicians and judges of the higher judiciary to draft the problem and judges the moot rounds.

Eminent personalities including Prof. Martin Hunter, Prof. Jeffery Waincymer, Ms. Sapna Jhangiani QC, Gary Born, Steven Finizo and Lord (Peter) Goldsmith have been involved with the event. Through previous editions of NLSTIAM, participants and judges have had the opportunity to explore issues such as the recovery of costs, damages for loss and reputation, unjust enrichment and jurisdiction of the tribunal, arbitrator bias, confidentiality, and also deal with other contemporary developments in the field of law. TIAM promises to be a holistic mooting experience. Several social and interactive sessions, including the TIAC will be organized at the sidelines of the competition to ensure that the moot does not limit itself to being a mere competition.
